Neighborhood Arts Program 2022 Work Samples: Guided walk of TRAILOFF’s The Land Remembers by Jacob Winterstein

This page shares a quick creative work sample and a sample past program held by Swim Pony similar to the guided community walks we’re proposing in conjunction with TrailOff.

GUIDED WALK OF CHRONICLES OF ASYLUM AT BARTRAM’S GARDEN

Upon the launch of TrailOff earlier this year Swim Pony teamed up with Bartram’s Garden to host a walk of Chronicles of Asylum, written by author Li Sumpter, which unfolds along the Bartram’s Mile section of the Schuylkill River trail. This event is nearly identical to the one we’re proposing for the Neighborhood Arts Program funding.

Upon arrival audiences were instructed on how to download the app and given a quick tutorial of its features:

Once everyone had gathered and downloaded the story we began walking the trail in small groups. A Swim Pony staff member accompanied each team.

All participants were provided with water and a small booklet about the story and trail to supplement their experience of the walk.

Afterward we gathered with the author and one of the voice actors to answer questions about creating the story.
